Message
of the presidents of WCC at Pentecost 2008 - May we this Pentecost, following the example of the first disciples, wait together, open to receive anew the life giving power of the Holy Spirit that God always desires to give to us. May we be united in the communion of the same Spirit so that together we can give more credible and effective witness in the world to the good news of Jesus Christ crucified, and risen, and living and working among us still.

for an Immediate Israeli-Palestinian Ceasefire - The
violent carnage cannot go on! The killing and injuring of innocent civilians

Appeal for Mission
Fund Greetings and peace to you
in Jesus Christ! In the recent
years, CCM has been able to assist the indigenous churches in the
country to organise themselves for the sake of ecumenical fellowship,
leadership development and mission work. The CCM committee that relates
with the indigenous churches is called HEBI (Hal Ehwal Bumiputra
Indigenous). The Committee has successfully organised youth, women and
church workers conferences on an annual basis. This
year there are plans to hold another National Pastors & Church
Workers Conference from 4-7 August 2009. The hosting church, the
Protestant Church in Sabah, Kudat will have the opportunity of welcoming
over 100 participants coming from the different member churches of CCM. As
you are aware, the Bahasa-speaking and ethnic congregations are
relatively poor and therefore CCM has to raise the necessary funds to
subsidize the Conference. Over the years we have appealed to
individuals, congregations and organisations to help us meet the
budgeted amount. We need to raise RM20,000 which will pay for the travel
for East Malaysians (Sarawak) and West Malaysians (by AirAsia) and the
board and lodging for the duration of the Conference. We
are appealing to you/your church to prayerfully consider making a
contribution towards the indigenous Pastors & Church Workers
National Conference. Cheques can be made in favour of the "Council
of Churches of Malaysia" and the words "Mission Fund"
written at the back of the cheque. The
more we invest in building the spiritual capacity of the indigenous
churches, the more confident they will become in taking on more
responsibility of their mission work and safeguarding their heritage in
the national context. May God bless
you. |

Asia Sunday Liturgy in Local Languages
- The Asia Sunday is fast approaching on 24 May. CCA encourages member churches, member councils and ecumenical partners to pray for the people of Sri Lanka. The country is being torn apart by the on-going war between the government and the
LTTE. We are pleased to know that with the coordination of the South Asia Ecumenical Partnership Program
[SEAPP], the Asia Sunday liturgy is being translated into various South Asian languages in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.
