Treating Religious Minorities with Respect - REV Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC), was recently in Kuala Lumpur for the 13th general assembly of the Christian Conference of Asia. Tveit has been heavily involved in interfaith dialogue as moderator of the Church of Norway-Islamic Council of Norway. He was also co-chair of the WCC Palestine-Israel Ecumenical Forum core group, and has called on churches to support a just and sustainable peace to the conflict. In an exclusive interview on 15 April 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, Tveit shares with The Nut Graph his experience in crafting a joint declaration on religious freedom together with his Muslim partners in Norway. In the Press

The Violence against the Gaza Humanitarian Flotilla Must Stop - The Council of Churches of Malaysia (CCM) views the Israeli navy’s storming of the flotilla of ships bearing humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people in Gaza on 31st May 2010 as unacceptable, and urges an immediate stop to the violence. More>>

The Incident of Israeli Attack Against Humanitarian Mission Ship Marmara Mavi, Sunday, May 31, 2010 in the international waters of the Gulf of Gaza, which have claimed casualties, is negligence against dignity of humanity. Clearly this incident is an act of arrogance and cruelty of Israel which cannot be justified. More>>

Public Statement Condemning the Assault on a Gaza-bound Vessel - It is with great distress that the World Council of Churches received the news that the Israeli naval forces stormed a Gaza-bound vessel carrying humanitarian aid in international waters before dawn on Monday, killing at least 10 civilians and injuring many more. We condemn the assault and killing of innocent people who were attempting to deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, who have been under a crippling Israeli blockade since 2007. A Letter to the Churches from Sibu - In beautiful Sibu, Sarawak, and meeting by the banks of the mighty Rejang river, ninety four (94) delegates gathered for the thirteenth (13th) General Assembly of the Council of Churches of Malaysia to celebrate diversity and deliberated the way forward for effective mission in the Malaysian context. Reflection

POLAR BEARS DON’T LIE

CHORUS:

Polar bears don’t lie
Politicians do ...
Penguins can’t fly
will surely die
Its up to me,
up to you.

Flame & Famine
Flood & fire
there’s no denying...
2º degrees over
& we all go under
What to do? What to do?

Over a round table
over leaders haggle
over cuts & coats ...
but for a dollar
will pimp our future
to the highest bidder
What to do? What to do?

When rich nations
from poor relations
can buy permits
to release green-
house gasses...
we’re all screwed!
What to do? What to do?

Where political resolutions
like carbon emissions
remain little more than
puffs of hot air –
smog pies in the sky...
you can breathe your last sigh
What to do? What to do?
