Tan Sri Bernard Dompok’s resignation as Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity (PSCI)The Council of Churches notes with regret the resignation of Tan Sri Bernard Dompok as Chairman of the PSCI. From media reports we understand his resignation was precipitated by the rejection of the officials of the National Registration Department (NRD) to attend a meeting and answer queries pertaining to the issuance of identity cards in the state of Sabah. As much as we regret his resignation, we applaud his courage based on his conviction that issues related to transparency in the government administration should not be compromised. Tan Sri Bernard has decided to stand up and be counted. LETTER FROM CFM TO TAN SRI BERNARD DOMPOKDear Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, Please accept our deep appreciation for your courageous and principled stand in resigning as Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity. We are thankful that you have upheld our Christian values and ethics at the highest level of Government and wish that your good example will be followed by our leaders, especially those Christians in high places of trust and leadership in our country in all fields. We pray that our Lord will continue to bless you with wisdom and the courage of your conviction, in your many years of testimony and service to Him, in your blessed future. We thank you and will pray for you and your loving family Yours in His Service, Bishop Dr. Paul Tan Chee Ing, SJ,
