Suicide Car Bomb Blasts in Lahore

Today, 27th May 2009, around 10:50 a.m. a suicide car bomb attacked on Rescue 15 building located near Civil Lines Police Office. An explosive-laden Suzuki van has broke the barriers and exploded near Rescue 15 building. The building of the Rescue 15 has been completely destroyed in the blast. A number of people and passers became victim and several deaths were reported. Number of cars were destroyed and windowpanes of nearby buildings were shattered. Periodic gunfire heard in the area before and after the blast.

Many Rescue15 vehicles have been destroyed. The entire building of Rescue 15 has reportedly collapsed in the blast. Security forces have cordoned off the area and shifted injured and bodies to hospitals and emergency has been announced in local hospitals. 10 killed, 83 people were injured.

The windowpanes of the National Council of Churches in Pakistan have also been shattered due to the swear bomb blast but unfortunately no one was injured and all office staff is safe.

Seeing scenes of the carnage from the bomb blast on television, helps me understand the trauma it caused the nation.

We are keeping the NCCP in our prayers.

We denounce such terrorist acts and hope the government of Pakistan will act decisively to contain the situation.
