Interfaith group assured of speedy resolution of the Hindu temple issue in Shah Alam

On September 10, the Executive Committee of the MCCBCHST met with the Menteri Besar and State EXCO officials to be briefed on what the Selangor state government was doing to resolve the issue of the Hindu temple relocation from Section 19 to Section 23 in Shah Alam.

The Menteri Besar, YB Tan Sri Dato' Khalid bin Ibrahim assured the representatives of the various religious groups that the Selangor State Government is determined to resolve the issue of the relocation of the temple amicably and with the broad support of all parties.

He affirmed that the State is committed to finding appropriate places of worship for all religious groups in accordance with local government regulations.

“We are not interested in making political capital on issues that tarnish interfaith relations but work quietly but resolutely in finding solutions that will be acceptable to all,” he asserted.

Realising how religious issues can be blown out of proportion, the Selangor State government will initiate more friendly interfaith dialogue sessions so that problematic issues with the potential of being blown out of proportion can be nipped at the bud.

The EXCO of the MCCBCHST welcomed the comments of the Menteri Besar and looked forward to more intensive dialogues with the authorities in the future.
